Sometimes with a mere rotation, space measures itself out, devours, and spreads out anew in the memory of site, sound, and space

Port of Abu Dhabi

LOSS shows the industrial port of Abu Dhabi, where, due to inactivity most of the machinery has been shut down. A gantry crane continuously moves up and down. Its empty belts––stretched into the shape of the hull––rise and fall, holding nothing but air. This space-related performative act simultaneously shows the act of yielding to the uselessness of specific movements and the how observation of this can accelerate the imagination of products with unknown intermediacy.

SOUND WITHOUT MELODY IS WHITE

In the third study of this series: Sound without melody is White, Andreoni uses the typical sound “shh” which can be translated in the phonetic range with the character ∫. The main function of this sound is to ask for silence, often used before a concert; a loud conversation between two people; or from a mother cooing her child or as a threat to quiet down. In the midst of protests and

demonstrations worldwide, Andreoni shushes the Italian folk resistance song, Bella Ciao, into a megaphone. A shush, without melody, becomes a white noise. All that remains is the tactful rhythm of the resistance.

Drawing arches while skipping rope is a spontaneous study about traces realized in a parking lot during the Covid-19 lockdown. Each parking spot is used as a potential numbered canvas or paper to sketch and draw different arch compositions while skipping rope. With each moment that the rope hits the ground, a layer of dust/sand is removed, leaving a new trace of the rope in

its place.
