15 x 15 cm

These drawings were made in May 2020 in the midst of social distancing and self-quarantine. While the artist was grappling with the effects of the Corona pandemic, Burckhardt was conducting interviews with people all across the globe to understand what they were going through. And it was there that the artist's hands found their way in the clarity of these lines.

The drawings were first shown as fine-prints in May 2020 as part of the mail art project "You've got mail!" by Julia Katharina Thiemann. In the course of the project, they first appeared in public as mail sent to private and professional writing and kitchen desks. They were on display for the first time in August as part of a summer exhibition »CoNTACT – ways of distance and touch« curated by Daniela von Damaros in response to the Corona period in the Berlin project space frontviews/HAUNT.

Kirstin Burckhardt is a visual artist combining video and performance, sound and word. Critically drawing upon her training in psychology and neuroscience, her work addresses power dynamics related to the body. Burckhardts artistic research ties together notions of embodiment, empathy, transgenerational trauma, and imaginative potentials.
