Who is the enemy?

"Who is the enemy? …and, we keep looking for the enemy…It can be everywhere, it can be anything, it can be anyone! We can not see it, smell it or touch it, they said… better you don’t find it inside, only one intruder and the price is high. Stay apart! Separated is the same as safe… You shouldn’t trust your own body, as it can be in it without noticing… you shouldn’t trust no-one, you shouldn’t move. The borders of all kinds become malleable, controllable, same as privacy easily does. Desperate, scrolling endlessly…looking for hints, and that something, invaded us already… gone… lost in the space of the non-space. Where did we go? all happened at home, in our room?... in our shocked bodies! or, maybe, in our mind?.
Is it the enemy inside, or outside? Are those spaces the same, or different?.
Who is the enemy?, is an online A/Live performance that was created in the framework of the “Artwillsaveus.club” project. The aim of the piece is to look for the THE ENEMY together, while the spectator reflects him/-herself in each of the artist actions and self-inquiries."
You are the only one in the meeting (Who is the enemy II)
If there is something that inspires me the most to create, is the possibility of seeing further than what we have accepted as reality. To inquire about who are we? how did we happen to be in this earth? or, how can we free ourselves from distress?, are some of my everyday questions. Looking for true freedom in all aspects of individual and collective life, is something that deeply drives my practice.
is a Mexican interdisciplinary artist, based in Berlin. Her work involves performative and poetic experimental videos, often shown as installations. Velarde’s body of work also includes photography, drawing, sculpture, sound, or a mix of them. The notions of self, a life span, a person and the possible paradoxes around them, are the main inquiries of her artistic production. Her work explores the self construct reflected in the social body, based in dualistic structures that can oscillate between its affirmation or absence; a true / original or false / artificial self; inside or outside states, etc. The artist's immersive installations or alive performances, detonate a state of self contemplation, that can alternate from a poetical to a more humorous approach.
Her work has been shown internationally, in cultural spaces and events such as the transmediale Festival, in Haus der Kulturen der Welt Berlin; Galerie der Stadt Sindelfingen, Stuttgart; the Freies Museum Berlin; the PAF Performing Arts Festival Berlin; Kunstraum Kreuzberg Bethanien, among others. She studied fine arts at the ENPEG, La Esmeralda Mexico and at the Weissensee Kunsthochschule Berlin.
